Obituary for Steve Fortais

Steve Fortais
In Loving Memory of Fortais, Steve
June 13, 1933 - November 16, 2016

After a very short illness and a full and rich life, our dad, in his 84th year, died at the place he loved the most, his home in Haliburton.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Germaine (nee Tellier), and will be greatly missed by his two children, Penny and Jeffrey (Nancy). He was so very proud of his grandchildren Sarah and Anna, Zachary and Tyler and his sisters, Margaret and Virginia, sisters-in-law Margaret and Juliet and several nieces and nephews in Windsor, Ontario.

Steve was born in Windsor and married Germaine on his 20th birthday, June 13th,They lived in Windsor until 1959 when they made their move to Oakville and subsequently to Mississauga where they raised their two children.

Steve retired from Chrysler Canada and made the retirement move to Haliburton in 1995 where he was a well known figure around the towns of Haliburton, Minden and other smaller communities in the area. He quickly became known as the "Candy Man" carrying pockets full of candies to hand to his friends at all the local retailers. He was quick witted and a hard worker willing to lend a hand to everyone he met.

As per Dad's request, there will be no funeral but he did say, just root for my Detroit Red Wings. They need it this year. Cremation has taken place.

Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society are greatly appreciated
