Early Days

I have so many wonderful memories of my time with Mike over so many years. In our teens, Mike and I would often go for walks together. Very endearing, he always offered his arm to me and I always obliged. We walked as lady and gent and talked about everything under the sun. One afternoon Mike stopped by my home, dressed all in white, and invited me out on that sunny summer day. Walking along the forest edge, we were overcome by mosquitos. Rather than abandon our time, we grabbed large branches from a spruce tree. We paid no attention whether we were seen by neighbours as we waved the branches around our heads with our free arms, maintaining a walk near the woods. You can guess we were both determined in nature, stubborn as others might say! Those times together were some of my most cherished as a teen. As we got older, little changed in how we shared our time as more lapses in our lives as friends occurred with education pursuits, boyfriends and girlfriends, marriages, children and moves. Through those years we walked less but remained arm in arm, supporting each other, laughing and sometimes equally crying. Mike was my true soul mate. I will carry him with me until we meet again. Perhaps he will be in white, offering his arm and, if so, I will oblige. Always and forever, Francine.
