Condolences

Condolence From: David Honderich
Condolence: Working with David for 9 years at Dave's on 35 was one of the great joys of my life. When I picked up David in the morning for the drive to Minden he always had a smile on his face. Whenever I was feeling a little down, 5 minutes with Dave would always cheer me up. He was such a gentle soul. His dedication and joyful spirit were a great example to all of us who worked with him at the restaurant.I will miss him.

My sincerest condolences to his family and loved ones.

Condolence: I've known David since he was a student at Hodgson Elem. School, and like everyone else, found him a delightful person to be around. He loved showing me his latest jewellery acquisitions, and, I guess thinking I might not have enough, one day in the library he presented me with a pair of clip-on earrings. They were quite painful but I wore them proudly, pleased at his thoughtfulness. I will wear them at the celebration of his life on Saturday, attaching them to hoops this time. I will also, for the first time in quite a while, wear a skirt because whenever I wore one to school he gave me a wolf whistle. I hope it makes him smile! He made me smile a lot.

Condolence: Dear Beth and the Irwin family,
What a joy it was to know Davie. I am sure that , if God gives us the desires of our hearts , that he is now the lead singer in some Heavenly praise and worship team. I have so many stories of him comforting anyone he saw with a tear in their eye or in need of help. His words to them were usually,"It's OK, Jesus is your friend" . He'd pitch in and grab a broom when we'd be cleaning up after an event. He had a smile for everyone. He shared his love freely, without reserve, and I really felt as though he was an angel living amongst us. He had no enemies and I know that the staff at Extendicare were gentle with him as he slowly lost some of that energy. Of course, knowing Davie, he'd never pass up a chance to hold hands with a pretty young woman, either, so maybe some of that wandering was on purpose. We loved him very much at Lakeside and he added a bright light to our community with his Spirit. He's safe in Jesus' arms, now, where his reward will be great.

Condolence: Sincere condolences from my husband David and me. We met David at Shepherd's Table and really appreciated his hard work in helping getting the tables and other last minute things ready. Both David's enjoyed the fact that they shared a name. We enjoyed his presence and giving spirit.

Deepest sympathies to you all,
Carol Brayman ( of the Growler Lake crew)

Just saw you last summer at the Haliburton

Condolence: My deepest sympathies to the Irwin, Bishop, and Community Living families. I had the privilege of working with David for almost 8 yrs.I accompanied Dave on numerous trips:annual vacations. The most memorable one was to Moosonee! What a journey. Dave, Doug and Gerald for 5 days of trains, buses, boats and spruce bogs! We had a blast!
Dave taught me so much. His infectious smile, his incredible sense of humour...there was never a day of "work" without lots of laughs. I learned more about Star Trek than any one person should know, and resolved more pranks on his roommates (especially Doug Johnson!) than I can count. Yet there was a serious side to Dave. David was gentle, compassionate and caring.I didn't realize how frail Dave had become until this past Christmas dinner. I will forever treasure that last big hug and kiss, and always remember the twinkle in Davids'eyes. He was a special man indeed.

Condolence: Please accept our deepest condolences on the passing of David. Our daughter Erica loved and often talked of Dave Irwin from Community Living and we all adored him. He sure was good on the dance floor as I found out at one of the Community Living dances. Dave asked me to dance and did not want to stop. We have many beautiful stories of Dave and you are all in our thoughts and prayers at this most difficult time.
Sincerely
Heather and Joe Roberts and family

Condolence: I was a PSW back years ago and looked after Dave and his mom. Helped with some meal prep and laundry. I believe I did some shopping too. Dave and his mom were wonderful people who are now together again. God Bless!
