Obituary for The Reverend William"Tim" L. Sharpe

In Loving Memory of The Reverend William “Tim” Sharpe

Tim passed away on August 20, 2020 at the age of 87, at his home on Little Bob Lake, surrounded by his family after a long struggle with heart disease and dementia.
Tim was predeceased by his parents Charles and Lucy Sharpe and his sister Patricia Gayle Stevens.
He was the deeply loved husband of Elizabeth (Betty) for 56 years and the beloved dad of Kevin(Lisa), Christopher (deceased)(Beth) and Kim. His granddaughters, Kaitlyn, Laura and Lyndsie were a great joy in his life, and he is fondly remembered by his extended family and many friends.

Tim graduated from Civil Engineering at the University of Toronto in 1955 and went on to get his Master’s degree in Commerce in 1958. He worked for the City of Toronto in Planning for a few years and then heard God’s call and became a priest in the Anglican Church in 1964. His ministry took him in several directions as a parish priest, and teacher of Religion, Math and Science in the Independent School System serving at Appleby, Ridley and Holy Trinity Colleges. Becoming a Navigator and Captain in the Air Force in his university days gave him the resources needed to work with the Cadets Corps at these colleges and to be the Padre of Minden’s Legion for 10 years.

Canadian Marriage Encounter was a big part of both Tim and Betty’s life helping couples make good marriages better. Together they helped present over 65 weekends all over Canada and the US
Tim made a very positive contribution to the lives of countless students, couples, and parishioners during a long and fruitful life. His gentle and loving nature never wavered and he always had a smile and twinkle in his eye for those around him.

“A good life”
“A great loss”
“A rare soul remembered.”
