Obituary

In Loving Memory of Stephen Craig Laakso

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Stephen Craig Laakso on Tuesday, February 9th, 2021 at Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay.

Devoted husband of Carol for 34 years, very proud and loving father of David and Christopher, loving brother to Brian (Cathy) and Liisa (Mark), loving brother-in-law to Sharon and Bruce and a friend to many.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at Stephen’s favorite place – the cottage – to commemorate a life well lived with laughter, memories and stories…..just as Stephen would want.

Stephen will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

We were so saddened upon hearing of Steve’s passing. Steve has been such a wonderful neighbour and friend to us for the last 15 years. His smiling face was always ready to greet us with a joking comment or to offer assistance with whatever we were working on. The sound of Steve’s tractor was always a comforting hum. He was constantly working on something, that is, until 4 pm, at which time it was, “sauna time”. I think this was Steve’s favourite time of the day, when he could kick back and enjoy the warm sunshine with Carol and whoever joined them, friend or family, on their sauna deck. We enjoyed so many laughs and drinks in the sunset of summer days, on that deck. We miss you and will continue to miss you as these days and months pass. You lived your life the way you wanted to live it Steve. Cheers to that! We will lift a glass of Canadian Club and Pepsi and crank up the SuperTramp in a toast to a life that made a difference to so many. Our truest sympathies to Carol, David and Christopher and all of the Laakso family. With love, Vicky, Paul, Jessie and Evan

Carol, I just found out that Steve has passed and I am extremely sorry for your loss. In the short period that I worked for Steve, I really enjoyed my time. It was a great experience. We always had a lot of good laughs and some great travel and times together. Please pass along my condolences to to your sons and Steve's family.
