Obituary for Norman Michael MacKinnon
In Loving Memory of Norman Michael MacKinnon
(Retired Area Office Manager with Ontario Hydro, a Mason with the London Lodge of Perfection and member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #636 Minden)
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Norm Michael MacKinnon. Norm was born in Noranda, Quebec on September 16th, 1946. Norm fought a brave battle with cancer and passed away Sunday, December 18th with his family by his side at the Haliburton Hospital.
Norm will be missed by his loving wife and best friend Glad Mackinnon, his oldest son John (Jocelyn, Jack, Matt, and Maddy), his daughter Pamela (Dale, Colton, Clayton), and his youngest son Marc (Irina, Mischa, and Maya). Norm was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and cherished friend.
Glad and Norm were married for 56 years and bought their home on South Lake in 1979. Norm was an avid outdoor enthusiast and loved teaching his kids and grandkids how to fish and enjoy nature walking on the blue trail at his woodlot. Norm and Glad enjoyed spending time in Florida where they made many friends. Norm was a proud employee of Ontario Hydro for 28 years and subsequently owned a small business distributing Cottage Life in the Haliburton Highlands area. Norm will be missed by so many and never forgotten. His family will be holding a Celebration of Life in the spring.
There are no words to express how thankful we all are for kindness, support and helping us with so many unknowns during these difficult times and for all the love and support we all have felt from thoughtful neighbours, friends, doctors and staff at the Haliburton Hospital in both the emergency and hospital departments.
Life is much easier to accept knowing that Norm is in a better place. Pain free and as a family we will continue to make him proud of us all.
