In Loving Memory of Douglas Edward McGee- October 21st, 1930 to February 28th, 2020

Passed away peacefully at the Hyland Crest Senior Citizens Home, Minden on Friday, February 28th, 2020 in his 90th year.

Beloved husband of Shirley for more than 66 years; they happily spent their last week’s together at Hyland Crest. He is pre-deceased by his father Lindsay and his mother Eva, both of Stirling. Dear father of Brian (Beckie) of Minden, Wayne (Lisa) of Lloydminster, Alberta, and Richard (Caroline) of Coboconk. Loving brother of Margaret of Stirling, grandpa to Jamieson (Emily) of Whitby, Chelsea of Barrie and great grandpa to Sophia of Whitby. In the words of four-year old Sophia, “the fairies have taken him to heaven because he liked to laugh”. We will sadly miss his laugh.

As per his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no service. A private family internment is planned for the spring of 2020.

The family would like to express their appreciation to all the staff at the Hyland Crest Senior Citizens Home for their caring and kindness.

Memorial Donations to the Haliburton Highlands Health Services Foundation (HHHSF) would be appreciated by the family and can be arranged through the Gordon A. Monk Funeral Home Ltd., P.O. Box 427, Minden, Ontario K0M 2K0.
