Died peacefully in the Palliative Care Unit at the Ross Memorial Hospital, Lindsay on February 9, 2020 after a short but heroic battle with cancer, at the age of 73.

Beloved husband of Jane Taylor Eastwood. Proud father of Heather (Michael), Alex (Savannah), Meaghan (Morgan), grandfather of Fiona, Cameron and Rowan. Dear brother of Ann (Dean), Susan and predeceased by his twin sister Elizabeth. Fondly remembered by his cousin Joan (David) Gauthier and by all who knew him.

The entire family is most grateful to, and appreciative of, the medical and professional staff who were devoted over the last two months to David’s care at home and in Bracebridge, Barrie, Huntsville and Minden ER . Our healthcare system is remarkable.

I will miss seeing him cruise by in his old Peterborough runabout, and will miss chatting with him about our mutual interest in old boats. My sympathy to those close to him!

I had the honour of meeting and working with David during our 2019 Liberal campaign in HKLB. He was a most sincere volunteer who truly supported and demonstrated the values that are core to building a stronger Canada. Please extend my heartfelt condolences to Jane and the extended family. David will be sadly missed by all who were lucky enough to have crossed his path. I will cherish my memories of our meetings and conversations.

David was one of our most committed volunteers. He had huge resolve to make a difference in our riding and in Canada and he willingly drove long distances to support our voter outreach work during the 2019 campaign in many areas of our riding, and was a key person in our work in the Haliburton-Minden area. I was surprised by the speed with which David contracted cancer and impressed by his demeanor during his treatments when Judi and I visited with him briefly last month. I am so sad about his passing and I extend my sincere condolences to Jane and her family.
