I could easily sum things up with five words “you were a good man”. But there is so much more. You were my friend, my “brother from another mother”. I never imagined it would all end like this. Over 40 years ago we started this journey that has resulted in some of the best times of my life. We hunted, fished and worked together all over the province with a fine group of likeminded people, some of whom have gone before you, and some of us who will carry on without you. Although you will always be with us in spirit. I was once told there are hunters and there are people who just like to hunt. You were a hunter and a tremendous fisherman. You always seemed to have a knack for being in the right place at the right time. Over the years many people have been the recipients of a fresh fish dinner or moose roast due to your generosity and quiet thoughtfulness. I'm sure the fish and wildlife are breathing a sigh of relief knowing you will no longer be in pursuit.
You were ” a good man in the bush “ as the old timers would say and I know that many of your colleagues benefitted from your knowledge. You have touched many lives and were respected and appreciated by all of your friends.
You had a quiet albeit determined way of going through life. I always marveled as you headed off to your “winter job” at the woodpile . While many others would have been content to put their feet up you were determined to keep going.
Your kids are putting together a memory box. I told them they need more paper. There are so many, and they are all great.
It's been a great adventure Chrissy, though way too short. Over the years you've made me laugh and now you're making me cry. We were together to the end as friends should be. I will never forget you and the times we had together. I loved you as a brother. Say hello to everyone for me and apologize to our mothers for the torment we put them through in our youth.
You were a good man
Happy hunting, Your friend Eric
P.S. I’ve included some pictures of our last moose hunt with Bruce and Dan and our granddaughter with her first lake trout from one of your secret spots.

Great eulogy Eric. You put into words the feelings of a lot of Chris's friends and family. It was always a good day when I met Chris, you, or John in the field. Bob Gater

Chris was a great friend and co-worker. I had the privilege of knowing and working with him for years on his fire crew. We had a lot of laughs together. He kept in touch with me even after I retired. He was a very caring and good man. I will miss his phone calls keeping me up to date on what was happening at work. Rest in Peace old friend. Condolences to Kim, Brady and Paige.

Kim, Brady, Paige, Kim, Paul and families;
My heart breaks for all of you. There are so many great memories of Chris. Growing up beside each other, early teens, rotten tomato fights between our gardens and spending time at your house in my early twenties. He was always a gentle man with a love for the outdoors and there to lend a hand to whoever needed it. Long after Dad had passed away, Russell and Chris would keep an eye on Mom and supply her with as much fresh fish as she wanted. We couldn’t have asked for better neighbours and friends. My deepest sympathies Kim. He was an amazing man and will be missed by all that knew him . Rest In Peace Chris. I hope the fishing is the best ever in heaven!
